PHS PhD Student Isaac Olufadewa Presents at the Vaccination Acceptance Research Network (VARN) Conference
PHS PhD student Isaac Olufadewa presented at the Vaccination Acceptance Research Network (VARN) 2023 Conference held in Bangkok, Thailand from 13-15 June.
The Sabin Vaccine Institute and UNICEF awarded Public Health Sciences PhD student Isaac Olufadewa a full scholarship to attend the Vaccination Acceptance Research Network (VARN) 2023 Conference held from 13-15 June in Bangkok Thailand in recognition of his efforts in COVID-19 vaccination promotion within Nigeria’s youth community. While presenting at the conference, Isaac talked about how he and his team utilized community-based participatory research and advocacy to recognize and fight against vaccine misinformation. His team focused on promoting vaccination uptake and demonstrating that vaccines are safe and effective. Isaac emphasized the importance of having culturally sensitive and tailored vaccination communication in order to reach his specific audience, the youth. By utilizing social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram, he was able to reach and communicate effectively with his target population.
