Hometown: Charlotte, North Carolina
Undergraduate Degree: Bachelor of Arts in Biology with a minor in Public Health from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte
Public Health Interest: Going into the MPH program with UNC Charlotte, I am mainly interested in infectious disease epidemiology alongside disease prevention, surveillance and the construction of effective strategies and interventions to combat the spread of disease. With the risk of outbreaks, epidemics and pandemics growing every year, I will be aiming to improve the health and quality and life of those residing in my community utilizing the education I receive from UNC Charlotte. I hope to enhance my problem solving, communication and critical thinking skills alongside my knowledge regarding the spread and prevention of diseases as well as expand my worldview revolving around the U.S. Healthcare system.
Public Health Experience: I am currently associated with a micro practice located just outside of Charlotte proper as a clinic coordinator / patient safety technician specializing in disability services, independent medical examinations as well as immigration examinations. I am mainly responsible for front desk patient registration, taking vitals/vision screenings, data entry, maintaining adequate supplies for the clinic, acting as a chaperone if requested and back office administrative duties.
Why I chose the MPH program at UNC Charlotte: I am a UNC Charlotte Alumni. From my undergraduate experience with UNC Charlotte, I have nothing but good things to say about the supportive staff, the state-of-the-art facilities, the wealth of resources and the invaluable education I received from this institution. The location of the campus is reasonably accessible from anywhere in or outside of Charlotte. The faculty and staff truly want to see you succeed and make a difference within your community.
About Me: Outside of my education with UNC Charlotte, my hobbies and interests include listening to music (mainly 70’s and 80s classic rock), learning to play songs on electric guitar, losing myself in the latest video game experiences, and being a caretaker for multiple species of reptiles.
