Concentration: Community Health Practice

Hometown: Charlotte, North Carolina

Undergraduate Degree: B.S in Child devleopment and family studies; Institution: North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University

Public Health Interest: The areas of public health that interests me are community health and maternal and child health.

Public Health Experience: My public health experience includes working as a Peer Health Facilitator, where I focused on health promotion and education. I organized and led community outreach events on campus, hosted vaccine clinics, and facilitated educational workshops on sexual health, consent, healthy relationships, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. These workshops aimed to reduce the risk of STIs and support incoming students in making informed health decisions. Additionally, I had the opportunity to partner with the CDC to further support public health initiatives.

Why I chose the MPH program at UNC Charlotte: I chose the UNC Charlotte MPH program because its mission — to advance equity, health, and well-being by collaborating with all populations in changing landscapes — strongly aligns with my core values.

About Me: I’m a Congolese-American who loves spending quality time with family and friends. I come from a big, close-knit family with four siblings, which has taught me the value of connection and support. In my free time, I enjoy shopping and just taking time to relax and unwind.
