PhD Faculty

Faculty members in the Department of Public Health Sciences at UNC Charlotte include nationally and internationally renowned scholars. Faculty members take seriously their role as mentor, guiding students into becoming well-rounded public health professionals. Faculty mentoring and intellectual support occurs throughout the doctoral program, with guidance tailored to advancing the student’s conceptualization of research problems and accomplishment of the dissertation research.

Faculty research addresses disparities and social determinants of health across a variety of populations including women, infants/children, elderly and minorities, as well as across diverse health issues, such as chronic illnesses, health promotion behaviors, and global health. The methodological strengths of faculty encompass qualitative approaches, use of large data sets, program evaluation, community health assessment and community-based participatory research.
