Registration Information

Registration for the Spring 2026 semester began on Monday, October 27, 2025. The course schedule will be available starting Monday, September 29, 2025. Registration occurs through the Banner system, with details available in the onboarding portal.

All admitted MPH students have a reserved seat in MPH courses. The MPH Program Director will serve as your academic advisor for your first semester. You’ll be assigned a permanent advisor from among the MPH faculty by the end of your first term.

In your first semester, you will register for 9 credits which is full-time for a graduate student at UNC Charlotte. If you intend to attend the program on a part-time basis, please set up time to meet with Miss Beete to discuss your plan of study. The UNC Charlotte MPH Program is an in-person program. We do not routinely offer online courses. Classes are typically 3 credits each and meet once/week from either 2:30-5:15pm or 5:30-8:15pm. The maximum load for graduate students is 12 credits per semester.

U.S. Residents

For U.S. residents, it is important that you submit your FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) form as soon as possible. FAFSA forms can now be submitted as early as October. The FAFSA is used to determine your need-based, financial aid award, if any. Without a FAFSA, you cannot receive any assistance with tuition or receive any scholarship funds. Scholarships are typically awarded in the Fall semester with an application deadline in March/April.

International Students

If you are an international student, please follow all instructions from the International Student and Scholar Office (ISSO) carefully, especially regarding the visa process.

Check your Charlotte email frequently and read all messages from ISSO thoroughly. You may also explore available scholarship opportunities for international students.

Student Computing Needs

The use of technology is common in all classes in the MPH program. For students in all concentrations, having access to the internet, Canvas (our learning management system), and other online resources during class is essential to your success. Readings, lecture slides, quizzes, and other materials are online. Most assignments are submitted digitally and almost all communication from faculty will be electronic (either via email or Canvas). Additionally, students will need to be able to do statistical analysis (SAS, STATA or others), particularly those in the Epidemiology  concentration.

Based on these needs, a laptop computer is required. If you do not have a laptop, computers are available in the computer labs in the College of Health and Human Services or the library, or you can rent a laptop from the library. If obtaining the necessary technology is a concern, please email Miss Beete.

Communication from the MPH Program

The UNC Charlotte email address (@charlotte.edu) assigned to you as part of your admission is the address to which all official university correspondence is sent. Please check this e-mail account regularly (also check your junk or spam folder), at least once a week before the beginning of the semester, and daily during the semester. This is also the delivery mechanism Miss Beete uses to inform you about program updates, professional development opportunities, advisor assignments, graduate assistantship opportunities, etc. within the department and around campus.

Funding Your Graduate Education

The Graduate School notes several sources of funding that are available to help students pay for a graduate program at UNC Charlotte, including financial aid, tuition support, assistantships and fellowships.  Some of those sources are available to all students, and some are available only to specific populations of UNC Charlotte students. Visit their Funding for Graduate Education website for more information!

If you are international student, find out more information from the International Student and Scholar Office about paying for your degree.

Students should also check out Funding your Degree on the This is Public Health website.
