Hometown: Durham, NC

Undergraduate Degree: B.S in Exercise Science with a minor in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte

Public Health Interests: Physical activity and nutrition

Public Health Experience: I previously worked as a caregiver so I went to client’s homes and assisted them with ADLs such as cleaning, cooking, bathing, and more. I also transported them to and from doctor’s appointments as needed. I am currently interning with the Northeastern NC Partnership for Public Health (NENCPPH). I am responsible for updating the provider list on their NENC Connect website and helping plan their 2024 Regional Get Moving Challenge. NENC Connect is a website individuals can use to find substance use and behavioral services in their area; the website contains over 600 locations across NC. For the Get Moving Challenge, I have created several weekly newsletters that will be sent out during the challenge, created several certificates for the winning categories, created a conversion chart, looked into various applications for inputting individual and team step counts, and more.

Why did you chose UNC Charlotte MPH Program?

I chose the UNC Charlotte MPH Program because I like the concentration areas that are offered. I was excited to see that I could continue my passion for kinesiology while obtaining my Master’s degree in a different area than my Bachelor’s. I also liked the idea of being able to work in various different fields and organizations.

About Me: I ran track for about 13 years, including my collegiate career, which has fueled my interest in physical activity and nutrition. I also recently had a baby which has expanded my interests into WIC and other nutritional resources for families.
