Dr. Gary Silverman presents at the Association of Environmental Studies and Science

Gary Silverman presented Connecting the Disconnect between Risk Perception and Risk Assessment at the annual conference of the Association of Environmental Studies and Sciences, June 11-14, 2014, in New York City. The conference theme, Welcome to the Anthropocene: From Global Challenge to Planetary Stewardship, explored how current human intervention is of such enormous magnitude to result in geologically discernable changes. In his session on synthetic chemicals and society, Dr. Silverman reported on research exploring the preparation of environmental studies and sciences students to participate in the conversation and practice related to management of chemicals produced to better modern society that also present largely unexplored risks to public health and the environment.
