Department of Public Health Sciences Holds Successful CAHME Site Visit

Categories: Uncategorized

Many thanks our friends and colleagues for your support and advice during our recent CAHME re-accreditation process. Our site visit just concluded with a preliminary finding that the Department fully met 33 of 35 criteria and have partially met the remaining two. Of those two partially met criteria, one related to a student competency-level assessment that we had not fully implemented during the self-study year, but is now underway. The other partially met criterion related to a concern that our Charlotte-focused mission statement no longer reflected the national level draw of our program, and that the mission statement should be drawn to reflect our rising prestige. The Department considers this review cycle was a very positive process that resulted in a number of insights and new ideas for our program. The formal re-accreditation process, however, will not be complete until late this year (after the commission’s November meeting. We will be sure to inform you once we receive final word of our re-accreditation, but wanted to share this glowing preliminary assessment.
