We partnered with Jamia Milia Islamia a central university in New Delhi. Students enjoyed spending time with JMI students and exploring the beauty and intensity of Delhi. In addition to touring World Heritage sights like the Taj Mahal, Fatehpur Sikri, and Humayun’s Tomb, we spent the week visiting social service and public health related organizations that work on issues impacting India. We visited organizations such as the Sulabh International and their Toilet Museum an organization that works on sanitation issues, a The Hope Project a program that educates girls from low-income families, and Butterflies a non-profit that addresses the needs of Indian street children.

This was the third year we visited India. JMI and UNC Charlotte faculty now partner on research projects. Charlotte and JMI students have become friends and keep in touch via social media. We hope to continue taking students to Delhi and working with our JMI colleagues.
