Academic Background: B.A in Biology, The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
Where I’m From: Monroe, NC
Public Health Interests: My public health interests include health equity, chronic disease epidemiology, preventative health, geriatric health and data analysis/surveillance.
Public Health Experience: As a Clinical Informatics Specialist at Oak Street Health, I gained experience using multiple EMR systems to retrieve/place orders and referrals. My responsibilities included observing and documenting encounters and examinations in addition to medical history and medical decision-making.
Why I chose the MPH program at UNC Charlotte: I am pursuing an MPH and Graduate Certificate in Health Informatics and Analytics at UNC Charlotte with the objective of working in public health data analysis. I chose UNC Charlotte because of its accreditations and urban location. I hope that the impact of urbanization will allow for experiential community engagement opportunities to learn how public health can prevent disease and promote health in this setting.
